The magic of induction heating.

DEXDO focuses primarily on the melting, heating and sintering of precious metals for a wide range of applications in the jewelry industry.

But what exactly is induction? And how does it differ from other heating methods?
It is fascinating how precious metal is heated to the point of melting within just a few minutes under the influence of induction. Precious metal becomes red-hot and melts within seconds under the influence of the alternating induction field. Understanding this process requires knowledge of a wide range of disciplines: physics, electromagnetism, power electronics, and process control.

Precious metal stays in the cycle.

Precious metal is too valuable to be used only once. A large part of the material processed on our systems has already been in circulation: old gold, old silver and platinum as well as precious-metal-bearing residues from production and processing. What is recovered does not have to be newly mined – induction furnaces enable efficient recycling and thus reduce the need for primary raw materials.

Induction heating is the right process for this: the heat is generated directly in the melt material, not in a surrounding flame. A melting cycle typically takes three to five minutes, and energy flows only during this time. Our ingot and casting systems operate under vacuum or protective gas, thereby avoiding oxidation, which reduces material losses and rework.

At the end of the chain comes refining: sorted and granulated material is brought to a purity of 99.99 % by our refining systems – reprocessed instead of newly mined.
